Chapter -1: Crouching Bagel Hidden Doughnut

????? 01-13-2026

A blind person takes a bite of, what they believe to be, a perfectly serious bagel. A mature, respectable bagel for a mature, respectable person of refined tastes. A healthy, honest, humble bagel for a healthy, honest, and humble person. A bagel treated with care, and with dignity, and in turn treating the blind person with care, and with dignity. A bagel which itself upholds every great and noble quality which the blind person aspires to cultivate within themselves. However, being a blind person, they are unable to see the truth, the fact of the matter, the way things stand. What this blind person has in fact taken a bite of, is a doughnut. A flash of sweetness and delight, but a preposterous mistake which took the place of the anticipated bagel. To the blind person, this is outrageous. A doughnut is unfit to dwell within the gut of a person of their stature. To them, this doughnut was a conniving abomination. A noxious, immature, and arrogant snack. To make such a thing part of themselves would bring shame upon them. It would lower them. They know what is worthy of becoming one with them. They know that there are certain things they must reject. Certain qualities reflected in certain things which they do not wish to be reflected in themselves. These things may not be allowed to dwell within their body, but they dwell within their mind. These things live within their spirit, crying out to them. But they do not hear the pleas. Because in addition to being blind, this person is also deaf. These things that cry out from the depths of their soul, begging to be dragged out of the darkness and into the light, cannot be heard. Nor can they be seen. All they can do is accumulate at the bottom of the bottomless pit within which they are cast aside by this person every day. The heaping pile of the rejected. Everything that is unworthy of attention. Unworthy of existence. What must and must not exist in what is deemed the real world is decided by one person. A person who is blind. A person who is deaf. A person who has forgotten every doughnut they have mistakenly eaten. A person who can't even admit that the doughnut tastes good.
